Born and Raised in Las Vegas, Nv. I am the first generation born in the U.S. My parents came to this country for a better future not only for themselves but also for myself and generations to come.
Since birth, Determination and Hustle was instilled in me. Watching my family struggle to get by and never giving up no matter the circumstance taught me to be aggressive with life. Early life lesson, "Pay close attention (mucho ojo). Learn not only by your own struggle but also from your surrounding areas."
From an early age I knew I had a creative God given talent. Right away did I know that was my calling? NO. We're all born with gifts and talents, but not everyone will utilize and put it to work.
Before taking my leap of faith I worked at a Del Taco during High School for not a even a full month. I took the job out of desperation. I needed money but I was unhappy. I felt out of place. I knew this wasn't where I belonged.
I only felt Happiness painting and drawing. Being the creative I was born to be. As I was sweeping the lobby of Del Taco I said to myself, "What the hell am I doing here. Im not happy and I need to do something about it." "I am going to quit and make it as an artist somehow someway, I am going to make it because I am going to make it."
No plan B, nothing to fall back on, no options. I set my mind up and was determined to execute. Not only for my Happiness but for my sanity.
Getting up and dreading to go to a 9-5 job everyday that I hated was not the future I saw for myself. Nor was it the life my parents intended for me to have. The sacrifices that were made by immigrating to a country where the language, lifestyle and culture was foreign would only be a slap to their face by settling for anything and being unhappy.
I am where I am today by the Grace of God. A young Mexican boy from North Las Vegas. who would of thought. I am proud of the choices I made, even the mistakes. It has all helped shape who I am today.
To my babies and future generations. Never give up, Never surrender. Your happiness is worth it all. Sacrifices have to be made. It's never easy, nothing ever is. Ponte las pilas.
